The Plantation Tour is a great combination of education and relaxation. The tour offers a rather interesting excursion on an authentic working Jamaican farming plantation, a stopover at the famous Dunn's River Falls, shopping and lunch.
The day kicks off with a visit to the Prospect working plantation, which is no more than a twenty-minute drive from the cruise ship pier. The Prospect Plantation grows a variety of crops including cassava, sugarcane, bananas and coffee and boasts a spectacular view of the White River Gorge and Jamaica’s first hydroelectric power station. Visitors are taken on a carriage ride to view the various crops and can opt to participate in several other activities such as: horseback riding, camel rides and feeding the ostriches. The tour lasts for approximately one hour.
After which we then journey to the town of Ocho Rios for some shopping and then on to the beautiful Dunn’s River Falls where we will spend approximately two hours at the waterfalls park, activities include climbing the falls, swimming in the sea below or just relaxing at various scenic points on the property. Don’t forget to pack your swimwear and your waterproof cameras for this stop.
After such an action packed day, you can opt to eat at a local restaurant where you can sample the local Jamaican cuisine or return to the ship.
